We are living in an era during which the length of necklace we wear is more often due to personal preference. The traditional names mentioned here are now generally only used when buying a pearl necklace.

Currently most of the necklaces on this website are of the Princess length. However, they can be adjusted to suit your requirements. Please contact me if a different length is required.

12" - 13" Choker
Fits snugly around the middle of the neck

14" to 16" Collar & Choker
These necklaces should be comfortably close fitting, lying above the collar bone, or up on the neck.

Both of these lengths work really well with evening wear, and enhance short necks if worn with a large beads.

17" to 19" The Princess
This length sits over the collarbone and is the most common length of necklace. These look fantastic with shirts. They can be worn with other tops, but make sure the neckline of the top either sits above so the necklace hangs below. Or with a low neckline, so that it clears the necklace.

20" to 24" The Matinee
While still a length suitable for daytime wear, it does drape on the chest. Choose the matinee style for high or very low necklines. Necklaces of these length add elegance to work clothes or casual wear. It is best worn with plain tops.

28" to 36" Opera length
This length is extravagent and adds a touch of drama and elegance to your formal attire. It extends to your mid-section. These necklaces draw attention away from your neck and to your chest.

37" - 45" Rope
Long necklace which can be knotted or worn doubled. A rope may, or may not, have a clasp. As these are so long, they draw attention to your curves!

Over 45" The Lariat or Rope
A Lariat is a long string of beads, without a clasp, which can be looped, wrapped or draped, as one is inspired. It can be worn as it takes you - wrapped several times around your neck several times. Or around your wrist for a chunky bracelet.
